Er aspartam kreftfremkallende eller ikke?

Bakgrunn

Se pressemeldingen her:

Det samme gjorde EFSA (The European Food safety Agency) i mai 2006. Se rapporten (opinion) her: http://www.aspartame.info/pdfs/EFSA%20Opinion.pdf

Betty Martini svarer FDA

"has established beyond ANY REASONABLE DOUBT that aspartame is capable of inducing brain tumors in experimental animals and that this predisposition of it is of extremely high significance. ... In view of these indications that the cancer causing potential of aspartame is a matter that had been established WAY BEYOND ANY REASONABLE DOUBT, one can ask: What is the reason for the apparent refusal by the FDA to invoke for this food additive the so-called Delaney Amendment to the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act?"

Og han avslutter med:

"Given the cancer causing potential of aspartame how would the FDA justify its position that it views a certain amount of aspartame as constituting an allowable daily intake or ''safe'' level of it? Is that position in effect not equivalent to setting a ''tolerance'' for this food additive and thus a violation of that law? And if the FDA itself elects to violate the law, who is left to protect the health of the public?"

Og her hjemme i Norge?

Hva blir reaksjonen på Ramazzini-instituttets rapport nummer to? Det gjenstår å se.

Aspartam forbys i Filipinene

A law promulgated by the Philippine Congress has forbidden the importing and use, in the country, of aspartame, a sweetener that is between 180 to 200 times more potent than sugar, as well as banning distribution offour makes of saccharine, the most important brand names in the countryknown as: Equal, NutraSweet, Equal-Measure y Spoonful.[*] According tothe said Law aspartame gives rise to a total of 75% of the negativeeffects reflected in consumers and other users according to the north American administration of food and alimentation, among others, brain tumours, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome,Parkinsons, Alzheimers and diabetes among others. The ban affects alluse of this product in any type of consumable and infringement will carry penalties that go from 9,000 euros to 90,000 euros.

Men over til Betty Martinis e-post til FDA:

Kilde: http://www.laleva.org/eng/2007/04/letter_to_fda_why_are_you_lying_about_aspartame.html

Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2007

To: laura.tarantino@fda.hhs.gov

From: "Dr. Betty Martini,D.Hum."

Subject: Open Letter to Laura Tarantino of FDA? Why are you lying about aspartame?

To Laura Tarantino:

From FDA press release: "Laura Tarantino of the FDA Office of Food Additive Safety concludes after a review of the study data that the low-calorie sweetener [aspartame/NutraSweet/Equal] is not a carcinogen."

On what basis do you say aspartame isn''t a carcinogen? The FDA has always known it is a carcinogen. FDA toxicologist, Dr. Adrian Gross, told Congress August 1,1985, at least one of Searle''s studies:

"has established beyond ANY REASONABLE DOUBT that aspartame is capable of inducing brain tumors in experimental animals and that this predisposition of it is of extremely high significance. ... In view of these indications that the cancer causing potential of aspartame is a matter that had been established WAY BEYOND ANY REASONABLE DOUBT, one can ask: What is the reason for the apparent refusal by the FDA to invoke for this food additive the so-called Delaney Amendment to the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act?"

The Delaney Amendment made it illegal to allow ANY residue of cancer causing chemicals in foods. Dr Gross concluded his testimony by asking

And if the FDA itself elects to violate the law, who is left to protect the health of the public?" Congressional Record SID835:131 (8/1/85)

FDA then revoked the petition for aspartame approval because it could not be proven safe and caused brain tumors. The FDA audit, the Bressler Report details how Searle excised brain tumors from rats, put them back in the study, and when they died they resurrected them on paper. It shows that they filtered out neoplasms, but they got caught.

So on January 10, 1977 in a 33 page letter, FDA Chief Counsel Richard Merrill recommended to U.S. Atty Sam Skinner that a grand jury investigate Searle for "apparent violations of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, 21 U.S.C. 331 (e), and the False Reports to the Government Act, 18 U.S.C. 1001, for their willful and knowing failure to make reports to the Food and Drug Administration required by the Act, 21 U.S.C. 355 (i), and for concealing material facts and making false statements in reports of animal studies conducted to establish the safety of aspartame." FDA called special attention to studies investigating the effect of NutraSweet on monkeys and hamsters.

There was no way to get out of it, so the defense team hired both U.S. Prosecutors, Sam Skinner and William Conlon. When district attorney goes to work for the godfather expect acquittal. But although the statute of limitations ran out, FDA continued to refuse approval, and revoked the petition in 1980.

Don Rumsfeld, who was CEO of Searle at the time, joined the Reagan administration and immediately a new FDA commissioner was installed who approved aspartame over the objections of his own scientific Board of Inquiry. So FDA knew aspartame is carcinogenic from the start and could have recalled it any time during the past two decades. Every time a petition was filed they refused. The law is that a Citizens Petition must be answered in 180 days and mine has been on the books for five years.

When I spoke to Mitchell Cheeseman there he told me they were still considering it. The law says you have 180 days to consider it, not 5 years. Doesn''t FDA do anything within the law? This report goes into other laws the FDA violated like adulteration, which means aspartame also violates Interstate Commerce laws because its illegal to ship an adulterated product for sale. Mitchell Cheeseman had the audacity to tell me by phone they can get around adulteration with Section 409.

The Trocho Study shows that the formaldehyde converted from the free methyl alcohol liberated by aspartame embalms living tissue. The EPA says formaldehyde is a carcinogen. In the original 2005 Ramazzini Study the hair on the rats turned yellow from the formaldehyde. Aspartame links

The medical texts on the global plague of Aspartame Disease (Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic) by H. J. Roberts, M.D. and Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills by neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, M.D., certify that aspartame is a carcinogen.

So you say you reviewed the Ramazzini Study in 2005. Why do you claim it''s not a carcinogen when you''ve known all along that it is. And as to the European Food Safety Authority; they said the rats had respiratory disease. Physicians and researchers laughed in the aisles, as its an established fact that respiratory disease is the dying process. We see the same thing on autopsy of humans who die of aspartame like Charles Fleming. His autopsy also showed the chronic methanol poisoning for years from the toxin. His wife who passed three lie detector tests remains in prison for the crime committed by the manufacturer. See the aspartame documentary, Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World. I reported the ESFA to the Universal Court of Justice for not apologizing after making up such a lie. Even Dr. Soffritti wrote a release on their bizarre excuse.

A spokesperson from the committee of EFSA admitted that they were pressured by industry to hijack science. I''m sending them a copy of this note so they won''t try this foolishness again with the second study which shows even in low doses aspartame causes cancer.

I saved the best for last,

"There is no evidence this substance, used for 25 years to sweeten soda, gum, dairy products, and some medications, causes cancer."

You win, Laura, hands down - Liar of the Year! I have the FDA records and over and over they state aspartame and cancer. If you can''t read them, we can send them back in braille.

I will expect you to immediately put out another release apologizing to the world for these lies. If you''re not willing to do this, then you need to pick up your purse, write your resignation and head out the door. The public is tired of being lied to. The FDA is guilty under Title 18, Section 1001, the very law they used to try and have the manufacturer indicted.
