FRITT HELSEVALG (FHV) is the Norwegian consumer health freedom organization, established in 1996, originally as part of Citizens for Health International. (Fritt Helsevalg means "Free Health Choice").
FHV is run by unpaid volunteers and has no government support. All financing is through membership, plus a bit of sponsoring and banner sales (on web site).
Our main objectives are:
- To work for and promote the consumers'' obvious right to a complete health system, where the alternative medicine is well integrated in terms of availability, information and financial support.
- To promote alternative medicine in general for the Norwegian society with emphasis on the enormous potential there is for a better society through holistic medicine.

To participate actively in international fora and organizations with goals similar to our own. 
We are affiliated with Alliance for Natural Health (ANH) .
 and The National Health Federation (NHF)
... and network with similar organizations across Europe and around the world.
On the global arena our focus is presently on the Codex Alimentarius "guidelines for vitamins and minerals in food supplements" and the Codex health claims guidelines, plus other health relevant Codex issues (as for example GMO''s).
On the European stage, the focus is obviously on the health related EU directives, that together threaten our health freedom more than ever before.
Nationally Fritt Helsevalg tries to be a voice for the common man and woman, the consumer, who by the steady introduction of new restrictive legislation is being robbed of his or her right to chose, both with regards to natural medicine/food supplements, and with regards to alternative therapy. Allopathic medicine dominates the Norwegian Health System, and changes are clearly overdue.
Many of the articles on our web site have a Norwegian title and introductory comment, but the body of the text is in English, and might thus be for your benefit. In most cases links are also given to source/original material in English.
We hope, eventually, to be able to supply a list here (with titles translated into English), of those articles that are in English (with Norwegian intro).
